A sauna website that explains the ritual and books private sessions

Sauna culture has spread fast, and many guests are booking their first session. They want to know what kinds of session you run, what happens inside, what to bring, whether it's mixed and how to get there. A sauna website that answers those calmly and books private sessions directly covers most of what a small operator needs; busy communal sessions with many places need a booking tool that counts them.

Private sessions on Anticode's booking calendar

Private sessions are the pattern Anticode's booking calendar handles well: one booking per day and time slot, so two groups can never book the same hour. Set up each private format as a service ("Private sauna, 90 minutes", "Sauna and cold plunge for two"). The form asks for the service, day, time, name, phone and email. The calendar offers six fixed times a day over the coming days (Mondays skipped) and refuses dates more than 120 days ahead; you can't set your own session times, so confirm each booking yourself.

It doesn't take a deposit, so if you need payment upfront, show a payment link from Stripe, PayPal or another provider on the confirmation and match it to the booking yourself, with a clear cancellation policy. It also doesn't sync with other calendars, so if you also take bookings by phone, check for clashes before confirming.

The gallery includes a template called Still Water Bathhouse, a calm sauna booking site. Using it copies it into your project without a model call and without using your allowance, which makes it a quick starting point to adapt to your own sessions and photos.

Communal sessions need a different tool

A communal session for twelve people is twelve bookings on the same hour. Anticode's calendar takes one per slot and doesn't count places, so it can't sell communal sessions properly. Use a booking or ticketing service built for capacity, link the "Book a communal session" button to it, and keep everything else (the explanation, etiquette, location and vouchers) on the Anticode site. That split is where this fit is partial.

Etiquette and what to bring

First-timers worry about getting it wrong. A friendly etiquette page removes that, and it reduces awkward moments for regulars too. Cover:

  • What to wear: swimwear rules, whether sessions are mixed, and any clothing-optional sessions clearly labelled.
  • What to bring: towels (or hire), a sitting towel, water bottle, flip-flops, warm layers for after.
  • How a round works: heat, cool down (cold plunge, sea, shower), rest, repeat, and that guests set their own pace.
  • Quiet and courtesy: talking levels, phones, pouring water on the stones only when invited.
  • Health: advise people who are pregnant, have heart conditions or take certain medication to check with their doctor first, and not to drink alcohol before a session. Keep it practical; your wording on health is your responsibility.

Gift vouchers

Sauna sessions make popular gifts. Offer two or three fixed vouchers (a private session for two, a communal session pass) as products at your provider, reached through your one payment link, and explain how the recipient redeems one: by email to you, quoting the code, or with a code your booking tool accepts. Anticode doesn't generate or track voucher codes, so keep a simple register. The gift voucher page guide covers the wording.

Location, access and look

Many saunas are on beaches, lakes or harbours, which makes getting there part of the page: exact location with a map link, parking, the walk from the car park, changing facilities, tide or weather cancellations, and step-free access. A notices CMS collection handles cancellations for weather in a sentence. Organic (Figtree) or Luxury (Jost) design systems with a black or teal action colour suit the calm mood; let your own photos of steam, timber and water lead. Related: day spas and massage therapists.

Limits

  • No capacity-based communal booking; one booking per service per slot.
  • No deposits or voucher codes; payment links only.
  • No calendar sync with other booking tools.
  • Guests' booking details are personal data, so two-factor sign-in is required for the account owner and the person publishing before the site goes live.
