Whop checkout link website set-up: memberships and downloads from your own page

Whop sells access: a paid community, a course, a software key, a download. Anticode builds the page that explains it. Join the two with a Whop checkout link saved in Anticode's payment-link connector, and every buy and pricing button on your page opens Whop's checkout in a new tab, where Whop takes the payment and grants the access.

Who uses this

Creators and small teams who already sell through Whop and want a page of their own rather than only a listing: a coach selling a monthly group, a trader selling a members' channel, a designer selling a template pack. The Anticode page carries the pitch, the outline of what's included and the FAQ; Whop carries billing, receipts, cancellations and the members' access.

Whop's checkout link documentation describes three pricing types. The one you choose decides what your page's button actually sells, so decide before you write the page's pricing copy.

Whop link types and how they fit a page
Pricing typeWhat it does at WhopFits a page that…
FreeGives access to the whop at no chargecollects members for a free tier or a lead magnet
One-timeCharges oncesells a download, a course or lifetime access
RecurringStarts a subscription (weekly, monthly or yearly), with an optional initial fee and free trialsells a membership

Whop's Advanced Options add things such as a stock limit, a waitlist, questions before checkout, auto-expiring access and a redirect after checkout. Those all run on Whop's side; your page doesn't need to know about them.

Connect the link

  1. In your Whop dashboard, open Checkout links, choose + Create checkout link, set the pricing type and price, and save it. If you start from the main dashboard rather than a whop's pricing page, Whop asks which whop the link is for.
  2. Copy the link's address and test it once while signed out, so you see what a stranger sees.
  3. In Anticode's dashboard, open Connectors, choose Payment link, paste the address into Your payment link and press Save and turn on.
  4. Build the page with payments as a must-have, or add them later by asking for it in a sentence.
  5. Publish, or republish if the site is already live. The link is written into the page when it's built, so a saved link changes nothing on a live page until you publish again.

What the visitor goes through

On your page, the pricing plan buttons (and, on an online-store build, each item's Buy link) open the Whop checkout in a new tab with noopener noreferrer. The page's FAQ answer about paying changes to say people pay online through a secure checkout and that you never see their card number. After payment, Whop handles the rest: access to the whop, the receipt and, for recurring links, renewals and cancellations. If you set a redirect after checkout in Whop, you can send buyers back to your own site's address.

The payment link is saved on the Anticode account (or Team workspace), and every buy button on every site in it uses the same address. A three-tier pricing table therefore can't send each tier to a different Whop plan. Three ways to live with that:

  • Sell one plan. Many membership pages are clearer with a single price anyway. Keep one tier on the page and describe it well.
  • Link to a page that lists your plans. If your whop has a public page showing each plan, point the connector there and let buyers choose on Whop.
  • Split by account. If you run two unrelated products, keep them in separate Anticode accounts so each has its own link.

Nothing secret changes hands

A Whop checkout link is meant to be shared, so Anticode stores it as plain, visible configuration and refuses it if it's sent as a secret. Your Whop API keys never belong in this field and nothing here uses them. Card and wallet details are entered on Whop's checkout only. Your published page runs no scripts, so there's no payment widget on it that could be tampered with.

Limits

  • No member area on the page. Anticode's published pages have no visitor accounts; members sign in at Whop.
  • No purchase data in Anticode. Sales, members and refunds are in Whop's dashboard.
  • No embedded checkout. Published pages refuse frames and scripts, so Whop's checkout opens as its own page.
  • On-site card payments are off. Anticode's own pay pages are built but switched off, so links are the way sites take payment today.
  • Prices on the page are text. Change them on the page when you change them in Whop.

Troubleshooting

Buttons go to the contact section instead
The site was built before the link was saved, or payments isn't one of its features. Add payments and publish again.
Buyers land on the wrong plan
The connector holds one address. Check which Whop link you pasted, or switch to a page that lists your plans.
"Paste your payment link first"
The connector was turned on with no address. Paste the Whop link, starting with https://, then save.

Questions people ask

Can I sell a recurring membership this way?

Yes. Make a Recurring checkout link in Whop and paste it in. Whop runs the renewals and cancellations; the page only sends people to the checkout.

Can each pricing tier open a different Whop plan?

No. One link per account means every button opens the same address. Link to a Whop page that lists your plans if you need buyers to choose.

Does Anticode see who bought?

No. The purchase happens at Whop, and Anticode receives nothing about it.

Can an app build take Whop payments?

No. Model-written apps run with no network and no payments; anything like a checkout inside one is simulated and labelled.
