A Gumroad link on your website: your page sells, Gumroad delivers
If you sell ebooks, templates, presets, courses or music through Gumroad, an Anticode site can be the designed front page and Gumroad the checkout. Save a Gumroad product link in the payment-link connector, republish, and the site's pricing buttons and store Buy links open it in a new tab. Gumroad takes the payment, delivers the files and sends the receipt.
Why pair a site with Gumroad
A Gumroad product page does its job, but it looks like every other Gumroad page, and it can't hold your story, your samples, your FAQ and your reviews in your own design. A site does that. Putting a Gumroad link on website buttons gives you both: the persuasion happens on a page that's yours, at your own domain on a paid plan, and the transaction happens where buyers' cards, files and receipts are already handled. If you ever leave Anticode, your products, customers and payouts stay on Gumroad.
Which link to save
- A single product's link
- Best for a site built around one thing: a book, a course, a template pack. Product links usually look like
yourname.gumroad.com/l/…, copied from the product's Share options. - A product link that opens the payment form
- Gumroad's help on sending customers directly to the payment form describes adding
?wanted=trueto a fixed-price product's link, so buyers skip the description they've just read on your site. - Your Gumroad profile
- Lists everything you sell. Use it when your site showcases several products, because Anticode keeps one link for every button.
Set it up
- Publish the product on Gumroad and copy the link you chose above. Use the
https://address. - In Anticode, open Connectors › Payment link, paste it and save.
- Ask for a page with pricing, an online store, or add payments to an existing build.
- Republish. Buttons pick up a new link only when the page is built again.
- Click through from the live site to check the right product opens.
The overlay and embeds won't run here
Gumroad also offers an overlay that opens checkout on top of your page, and embedded product widgets. Both work by loading Gumroad's JavaScript. Anticode's published pages carry a security policy that allows no scripts and no frames, so those snippets wouldn't run, and the code editor refuses scripts. The plain link opens Gumroad in a new tab instead, which buyers are used to, and leaves your page free of third-party code.
What Gumroad does after the click
- Payment and receipt. Gumroad takes the payment and emails the buyer.
- Delivery. Files, links or content attached to the product are delivered by Gumroad. Anticode stores no products and sends nothing after a sale.
- Tax. Gumroad's pricing page says that since 1 January 2025 it handles sales tax collection and remittance worldwide as merchant of record, so you don't configure tax yourself. Check that page for current fees.
- Customers and refunds. Your sales list, refunds and buyer emails live in Gumroad.
Write the page for the click
Since the checkout is a different site, the page has to do the convincing before the buyer leaves. Put the price on the page next to the button, so Gumroad shows no surprise. Say what format they'll get and how it arrives ("PDF and EPUB, emailed by Gumroad straight after purchase"). Answer refund and licence questions in your FAQ. And keep button wording honest about the destination, such as "Buy on Gumroad", which you can edit in the visual editor.
If the button goes to the wrong place
- Still the old product. The live page was built before you saved the new link. Republish.
- A Gumroad error page. The product is unpublished or its URL was changed in Gumroad. Copy the current link again.
- No buy buttons at all. The build has no pricing section, store or payments must-have, so there was nothing to attach the link to. Ask for one in a change request.
Limits
- One link for all buttons. Several products on one site means linking your profile, or featuring one product.
- No sales data in Anticode. Your site's analytics count visits, not purchases; Gumroad reports sales.
- No discount codes or licence keys on your site. Manage them in Gumroad.
- No checkout inside apps. Model-written apps are sandboxed and can't take payment.
Questions people ask
Do I need a Gumroad account for this?
Yes. Gumroad is the seller of record and delivers the product; Anticode only links to it.
Can buyers stay on my site to pay?
No. The Gumroad overlay needs a script, which Anticode pages don't run, so checkout opens in a new tab.
Does Anticode take a cut of Gumroad sales?
Anticode isn't involved in the payment at all: the link sends buyers to Gumroad, and Gumroad's own fees apply.
