Anticode vs Wix and Wix Harmony: an all-in-one platform or a site you can take with you
Wix, and its Harmony editor with the Aria AI agent, is an all-in-one platform: drag-and-drop editing, an app market and built-in stores, bookings and marketing tools, all hosted on Wix. Anticode generates a scriptless site from a sentence, checks it and lets you export the code. Wix does far more for a business that wants every tool in one place; Anticode does less, and lets you leave.
The short answer
If you want one account to run your site, store, bookings, email marketing, point of sale and CRM, Wix is designed for that and Anticode isn't. If you want a site that looks designed, ships with no scripts, passes security checks before it's public and can be exported as plain HTML or a Next.js project, Anticode fits better. The trade-off is breadth of business tools against portability.
How each one builds
Wix offers two routes into the same platform. Its AI website builder generates a site from a description and lets you refine it with Aria, its built-in agent, or by dragging and dropping. Wix Harmony is the hybrid editor that puts both together: you can prompt Aria to generate pages, sections and images or make batch edits, then adjust anything by hand. Wix's own page adds a reminder that AI can make mistakes and results should be double-checked.
Anticode has one route. You describe the site, the Architect asks up to three questions that would change the build, and you approve a short plan. The design engine lays out a landing page, online store, booking app, dashboard or portfolio, with optional pages such as About, Services, Pricing, FAQ and Contact, held to one of seven design systems. There is no free drag-and-drop canvas, though you can move sections, resize elements on a grid and edit text in place.
Side by side
| Anticode | Wix | |
|---|---|---|
| Design approach | Seven design systems with one font family and one action colour per site, checked by the Critic | Templates or AI-generated sites, refined by drag and drop and Aria |
| How you build | A sentence, up to three questions, then visual edits or change requests | Prompt the AI builder or Harmony's Aria agent, or edit by hand |
| Code ownership and export | One HTML file or a Next.js project; push to GitHub | Sites must be hosted on Wix's servers; no external hosting |
| Hosting and custom domains | anticode.dev address, own domain on paid plans | Wix hosting; custom domain with a Premium plan |
| Security checks | Twelve checks on the HTML that ships; failing pages can't be published | Security handled by Wix's hosting; no per-page scan described on the pages we read |
| Pricing model | Account plans with daily and weekly build allowances | Premium plans billed yearly, with prices that vary by location |
| Best for | Small sites that should be scriptless, checked and portable | Businesses that want store, bookings, marketing and CRM in one place |
Business tools
This is where Wix is broader. Its AI builder page lists an online store with inventory management, scheduling and bookings, event ticketing and RSVPs, restaurant menus and orders, blogs, email marketing, paid ads, CRM, point of sale, a mobile app, an app market and further AI agents for marketing and front-desk work. Harmony's page says checkout, bookings and courses can be added and set up ready to use.
Anticode covers a smaller set, and says so. Sites take payment through payment links from Stripe Payment Links, PayPal, Gumroad, Lemon Squeezy, Shopify or Whop: there's no shopping cart, inventory, shipping or tax handling. The booking calendar refuses past dates and dates more than 120 days out and stops two visitors taking the same slot, but there are no deposits, calendar sync or staff rotas. Forms are saved, sealed at rest and can go on to tools such as Google Sheets, HubSpot or Mailchimp.
Pricing
Wix's plans page lists four Premium plans (Light, Core, Business and Business Elite), billed yearly and paid at purchase, each with a free domain for the first year and AI creation tools; ecommerce starts at Core. Wix notes that prices vary by location, so we haven't quoted a figure here: check the page from where you are. Anticode's plans are on our pricing page; each build shows a quote before it runs, and failed builds aren't charged.
Leaving later
Wix's help centre is direct about this: a Wix site needs to be hosted and operated on Wix's servers, and external hosting isn't supported because the platform uses Wix's own technology. You can use a domain bought elsewhere. Anticode exports the site as a self-contained HTML file or a Next.js project with no Anticode runtime, so you can host it anywhere or hand it to a developer.
Where Wix is the better choice
- You sell physical products. A store with a cart, inventory and shipping is built in; Anticode only links out to a checkout.
- You run appointments with staff. Wix's scheduling tools go further than Anticode's booking calendar.
- You want marketing in the same place. Email campaigns, ads and CRM come with the platform.
- You like to drag things. Harmony keeps full drag-and-drop control alongside the AI agent.
- You need other languages. Anticode's builder and sites are English only.
Where Anticode is the better choice
- You want to own the code. HTML or Next.js export, with a GitHub push.
- You want a scriptless site. Design-engine pages have no JavaScript at all and no third-party trackers.
- You want checks before publishing. Nineteen design checks and twelve security checks run on the page that ships.
- You want the build to look designed. One font family, one action colour and spacing that agree, held by checks rather than by hand.
Who should pick which
A shop selling stock, a salon with several stylists, or a business that wants one dashboard for everything should look at Wix. A consultant, a studio, a launch page or a small service business that takes payment through a link and wants a scriptless, checked and portable site should try Anticode. Anticode's limits here
No cart, no inventory, no visitor accounts or member areas on published sites, no app market and no multilingual sites. Every Wix claim above links to Wix's own pages as read on 24 October 2026; if one is out of date, tell us through the contact page.
