Weebly alternatives: where to rebuild a site Weebly has unpublished
If you run a Weebly site in one of the 67 countries where Weebly is winding down, your site was due to be unpublished on 27 September 2026 and your account closes to you after 26 December 2026. The search for Weebly alternatives is therefore a deadline: download your data and move your domain first, then pick where to rebuild.
What Weebly's notice says
Weebly's help centre article Upcoming Changes to Weebly's Global Operations sets out the wind-down, which it attributes to changes in regulation and a wish to simplify its global operations. For customers in the listed countries, publishing new pages stopped on 29 June 2026, sites stayed online for 90 days and were then unpublished on 27 September 2026, and login access ends after 26 December 2026. Khaleej Times reported the change on 5 July 2026, after customers in the UAE received the email.
The list in the notice includes Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates, Thailand, South Korea, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Colombia, Chile, Kenya, Nigeria, Pakistan, Egypt and Ukraine, among others. The United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and most of western Europe are not on it. Read the full list on Weebly's page rather than relying on a summary, including this one.
Before 26 December: what to take
Your site is offline, but the account still holds everything you need. Weebly's notice describes two ways out and one set of domain rules:
- Your whole account. Go to Account Settings, then My Data, then Download My Data. Once that's done you can ask Weebly to erase your data if you want to.
- One site at a time. In the editor, open Settings and choose Archive to download that site's data. Do this for each site, then open the files and check that your text and images are really there.
- Your domain. Under Domains, choose Manage, switch off the registrar lock and copy the EPP authorisation code. Don't change the domain's contact details first: under ICANN rules that triggers a 60-day lock. A domain registered in the last 60 days can't move yet, and country-code domains such as .co.uk need Weebly support's help.
- Email. If you have Google Workspace through Weebly, the notice asks you to contact support to move it directly to Google.
- Everything the archive won't carry. Write down your page list, store products, form fields and where enquiries went. That list is the brief for the new site.
If you're keeping the domain, our guide to moving a domain to a new website covers the DNS side.
Four options to compare
| Option | Suits | Check first |
|---|---|---|
| Square Online | Shops and restaurants that take card payments; Square bought Weebly in 2018 and runs its own builder | Square's availability article lists card processing only in the US, Canada, Australia, Japan, the UK, Ireland, France and Spain, none of which is on Weebly's list |
| Carrd | A simple site that fits on one page; Carrd describes itself as a builder of one-page sites | Forms and custom domains need a Pro Standard plan or higher |
| Squarespace | A hosted all-in-one with a store, close to Weebly's way of working | Its pricing page says Squarespace Payments covers the US, UK, Canada and several European countries |
| Anticode | Business sites, portfolios and launch pages rebuilt from a description | Its builder and the sites it makes are in English only |
A pattern runs through that table: payment providers work country by country. Before you choose any builder, confirm which payment service can actually pay out to a business in your country, and pick the builder that works with it.
Where Anticode fits
Anticode suits the owner who'd rather describe the site again than drag blocks back into place. You tell the Architect what the business does; it asks up to three questions that change the build and shows a short plan with the sections, look and features before anything is built. Pages can be split into Services, About, Pricing, FAQ, Contact and other separate pages, so a typical five-page Weebly site has an equivalent. Photos from your Weebly archive can be uploaded into the build.
The contact form saves enquiries and can email them to you; the booking form takes a service, day and time. To sell, point buy buttons at a checkout link from Stripe Payment Links, PayPal, Gumroad, Lemon Squeezy, Shopify or Whop, using whichever of those serves your country. Once you have the EPP code or DNS access, you can connect your own domain on a paid plan; see custom domains and payment links.
What Anticode won't do for a Weebly owner
- English only. The builder's interface is English, published pages declare English, and there's no multilingual site or automatic translation. Many of the affected countries publish in other languages; if yours does, choose another tool.
- No store engine. No cart, inventory, shipping or tax handling: only buy buttons that open your provider's checkout.
- No import. Anticode can't read a Weebly archive or rebuild a site that's offline; you describe it and add your own text and photos.
- No embeds. Published pages can't embed maps, videos or booking widgets; they link to them instead.
- No member areas. Visitors can't sign in to a published site.
Who can stay on Weebly
If your country isn't on the list, nothing in the notice changes your site, and moving is optional. As of 24 October 2026, Weebly's pricing page shows Personal at $13, Professional at $15 and Performance at $32 a month billed annually ($16, $20 and $36 month to month), with the currency not named on the page. A site that works and earns its keep doesn't need to move because of news from elsewhere. Still, keep a current download from My Data: it's a sensible habit on any hosted builder.
Questions people ask
Is Weebly shutting down everywhere?
No. Weebly's notice covers 67 named countries. Elsewhere, including the US and UK, Weebly is still sold, and its pricing page lists current plans.
My site is already unpublished. Can I still get my content?
Yes, until 26 December 2026. Sign in and use Download My Data under Account Settings, or Archive in a site's settings. After that date the notice says login access ends.
Can I keep my domain name?
Yes. Unlock it in Weebly's domain settings and take the EPP code to a new registrar, without editing its contact details first. Country-code domains need Weebly support.
Is Square Online the official replacement?
Square owns Weebly and runs Square Online, but Square's own help centre lists card processing in eight countries, none of them on Weebly's wind-down list. Check availability in your country first.
