Anticode vs SITE123: a guided template builder, or a site written and checked for you
SITE123 is a guided builder for beginners: choose a website type, add your content in its editor, and a 24/7 support chat helps along the way, with an AI chat panel that can generate layouts, text and images. Anticode writes and designs the whole site from a description, checks it for design and security problems before it can be published, and lets you export the code, which SITE123 says it doesn't allow.
The short answer
SITE123 suits someone building their first site who wants a free plan with no time limit, a guided editor, and a person to ask at any hour. Anticode suits someone who would rather not fill in a site at all: describe the business, agree a plan, and get pages with consistent type, colour and spacing that have already passed accessibility and security checks. It also suits anyone who wants to keep the code.
How you put a site together
SITE123's home page describes the process as selecting your website type, uploading your own content and publishing, using an intuitive editor with no coding, free hosting and free 24/7 live support. Its AI website builder page adds an AI chat panel: you ask for something like a modern business website with a contact form, and it suggests layouts, colours and images, writes text such as About pages and product descriptions, and generates images to match the theme.
Anticode's flow is a short conversation. The Architect replies to your description, asks up to three questions where the answer changes the build (each with suggested answers you can tap), then shows a plan: name, kind, sections, look and features. Choosing "Build it" builds that plan in one of seven design systems. Before publishing, the release checklist can run every publish check without putting anything live. How it works covers each stage.
Side by side
| Anticode | SITE123 | |
|---|---|---|
| Design approach | One of seven design systems, nineteen design checks and a design gate | Website types and AI-created templates in its own editor |
| How you build | Describe it, answer up to three questions, agree the plan | Choose a type, add content, optionally ask the AI chat |
| Code ownership and export | One HTML file or a Next.js project; push to GitHub | No download: SITE123 says it is a proprietary web service |
| Hosting and custom domains | anticode.dev address free; your own domain on paid plans | Free subdomain; connecting a domain needs Premium |
| Security checks | Twelve checks on the shipped HTML; failing pages can't be published | SSL with custom domains; no pre-publish security scan described |
| Pricing model | Daily and weekly build allowance, a quote before each build | Free plan; Premium packages for 3, 12, 24 or 36 months |
| Best for | People who want a finished, checked site without assembling it | First-time builders who want guidance and live support |
Plans
As of 24 October 2026, SITE123's pricing page shows a Free plan at $0 a month, without naming the currency, with 250 MB of storage, 250 MB of bandwidth and a subdomain. Premium adds a free domain for a year, 3 GB of storage and bandwidth, removal of the SITE123 floating tag, your own domain and a store. The FAQ says there are four packages (Basic, Advanced, Professional and Gold), plan lengths of 3, 12, 24 and 36 months with bigger discounts for longer terms, and that connecting a custom domain costs as low as $10.8 a month on an annual plan paid up front. Premium plans come with a 14-day money-back guarantee.
Anticode bills building, not plan length. Every plan has a daily and a weekly allowance based on what each build actually cost, with a quote first; failed or refused builds aren't counted, and credit packs never expire. See pricing.
Can you take the site with you?
This is the clearest practical difference. Asked whether you can download your website, SITE123's pricing FAQ answers no, because it is a proprietary web service. If you outgrow it, you rebuild elsewhere.
Anticode exports a project as a single self-contained HTML file you can host anywhere, or as a Next.js App Router project with TypeScript, Postgres through Prisma, server routes for bookings, contact and newsletter forms, and an admin area with two-factor sign-in. You can push it to a GitHub repository you choose, and there's no Anticode runtime inside. More on that under HTML export.
Where SITE123 is the better choice
- A free site with no deadline. SITE123 says every site is free to use indefinitely, with no trial period.
- Help from a person. Free 24/7 live chat support is part of the offer.
- Email with the plan. Its FAQ says the Advanced, Professional and Gold packages include email accounts; Anticode doesn't sell email.
- A store on Premium. Product display, buying and payments in one system, where Anticode has one payment link per account and no cart.
Where Anticode is the better choice
- Less to fill in. The site's copy, sections and layout come from your description rather than from you adding content to a template.
- Problems caught before launch. Missing alt text, no visible keyboard focus or placeholder text blocks publishing.
- Pages with no scripts. Design-engine pages ship no JavaScript, which removes a whole class of security problems.
- An exit. HTML or Next.js export, so the site isn't tied to one host.
Who should pick which
A retired teacher making a club site for the first time, who values a friendly support chat, will be well looked after by SITE123. A small business owner who wants a credible small business website without writing it, and wants the option to hand the code to a developer later, should try Anticode. SITE123 alternatives lists other options.
Anticode's limits
No live chat support line like SITE123's, no email accounts, no shopping cart, fixed booking times, no video or embeds on design-engine pages and an English-only builder. Model-written builds need an account, though page previews don't. SITE123 details come from its own pages on 24 October 2026; if anything has changed, tell us through the contact page.
