Anticode Open builder

Use Anticode as a Claude website builder connector in claude.ai

Add Anticode to claude.ai as a custom connector and Claude can create a project from your description, quote and run a build, show you the page in the chat, apply changes and publish, all inside one conversation. You approve the connection on Anticode's own page, where you can limit Claude to read-only, and every paid build is quoted before it runs.

What you'd use it for

The connector suits people who already think out loud with Claude. You might draft a menu and opening hours with Claude, then ask it to turn them into a booking page; check last week's views and form submissions in the same chat where you plan the next promotion; or ask for three headline options, pick one, and have Claude apply it and republish. The builder still exists for visual editing, but a lot of small jobs never need it.

Add the connector

Anthropic's help article on custom connectors describes the current screens, which may change. For an individual account, the steps are currently:

  1. In claude.ai, open the connectors settings (currently under Customize, then Connectors), choose + Add, then Add custom connector.
  2. Name it Anticode and enter the server URL https://anticode.dev/mcp. Leave the detected sign-in settings as they are and choose Add.
  3. Choose Connect. An Anticode page opens and asks you to approve Claude. You can narrow the access to read-only there before approving.
  4. In a chat, turn the connector on from the + button at the lower left, under Connectors.

Which Claude plans include custom connectors, and how many, is set by Anthropic, so check its help article for your account. In an organisation, an owner may need to add the connector in the organisation's settings first; each member then connects their own Anticode account.

What Claude can and can't do

The connector's reach
Claude canClaude can't
List, create and read your projects, including anticode.jsonUpload or delete files
Quote a build, then run it after you agreeDelete projects or your account
Request changes, free ones firstChange your password, email or billing

Publish and unpublish sites; read analytics and form submissionsSee other accounts' projects

Form submissions reach Claude marked as untrusted content. That matters because a visitor can type anything into a contact form, including text written to look like instructions; the label tells the model to treat it as data to report, not orders to follow.

A build never starts without a price

Model builds use your daily and weekly allowance, so the connector makes Claude ask first. A build or a model-written change only runs with a quote id from get_build_quote, issued for your account, that project and that purpose in the previous 15 minutes, and usable once. The tool descriptions tell Claude to show you the cost before using it. If the build fails, the quote is handed back and nothing is charged. Changes that don't need the model, such as swapping the theme, run locally and cost nothing.

Seeing it before it goes live

Claude supports MCP Apps, so preview_project can show the page inside the conversation, rendered exactly as it would publish. The preview runs in a locked-down frame with no scripts, forms or navigation, and the page's HTML travels to Claude's interface without entering the model's context. Ask for a preview after each change and publish only when it looks right. Publishing renders the page with Anticode's design engine and passes it through the same security gate as the builder.

Security and disconnecting

  • Short-lived access. OAuth access tokens last an hour; refresh tokens rotate on each use and lapse after 30 days unused.
  • One place to end it. On anticode.dev/mcp you can disconnect Claude, which ends its access immediately.
  • Rate limits apply per token and per account, so a looping conversation can't hammer your projects.
  • Anthropic's own advice is to connect only to servers you trust and review the permissions requested; the read-only option is there if you only want reports.

Limits

  • No file uploads through Claude. Add photos and videos in the Anticode app.
  • No visual editing. Dragging sections and editing text in place happen in the builder; Claude works through anticode.json or a change in words.
  • Progress is per step, such as planning and saving, not a live stream of the model's work.
  • The builder's interface is English-only, and so are the pages it generates.

Troubleshooting

Claude says a tool needs write access
You approved read-only. Disconnect on anticode.dev/mcp and connect again with read and write.
The connector can't be reached
Claude's remote connections come from Anthropic's servers, so the URL must be exactly https://anticode.dev/mcp.
A build is refused
Your allowance for the day or week is used, or the quote expired. Ask Claude to quote again.

The MCP server feature page lists every tool. For a step-by-step editing session, read editing a website with Claude using MCP, and for the desktop app's preview, see Claude Desktop.

Questions people ask

Will Claude publish without asking me?

Publishing is a separate tool call, and Claude asks your permission for tool calls unless you chose Allow always for that tool, which Anthropic advises only for servers you trust. Connect read-only if you want reports only.

Does it cost anything extra?

Builds come from your normal Anticode allowance, quoted first. See pricing for the plans.

Can Claude edit text on my page directly?

Yes. It can read and update anticode.json, the open project file, or request a change in words. Stale edits are refused with a version conflict rather than overwriting newer work.
