How to make a multi-page website with AI and keep every page consistent

Name the pages you want in the request, in the order they should appear in the navigation, and say what each one is for. Check that every page shares the same header, footer and design, that the navigation links work, and that each page has its own clear heading. Add pages later with a plain sentence rather than rebuilding.

Plan the pages before you ask

AI builders often default to a single long page, because that's the safest reading of a short request. If you want several, decide which and why. A useful test: each page should answer one question a visitor arrives with. "What do you offer?" is Services. "Who are you?" is About. "How do I book?" is Book. If two pages answer the same question, merge them; if one page answers four, split it. Planning a website structure goes deeper, and the one page vs multi page guide helps decide whether you need several at all.

Ask for it clearly

  1. List the pages by name in the request: "Home, Services, About, Book and Contact."
  2. Give each a purpose in a few words: "Services lists our six treatments with prices."
  3. Say what stays on the home page: usually the main message, a short version of each section, and the main action.
  4. Name the main action that should appear in the header on every page, such as "Book now".
  5. Ask for the footer contents once: address, phone, hours, legal links. It should be identical everywhere.

Keep the pages consistent

What makes a set of pages feel like one site is the parts that don't change: the same header and navigation in the same order, the same footer, one type family, one action colour, and the same spacing. Check these on every page after the build. Inconsistency usually creeps in when pages are added one at a time with different wording in each request, so reuse the same description of the look whenever you ask for something new.

Each page also needs things that should differ: its own main heading, its own title in the browser tab, and its own opening paragraph. Google's SEO starter guide asks for titles unique to each page, and its guidance on crawlable links notes that it can only follow links built as <a> elements with an href, which is one more reason to check the navigation is made of real links.

Multi-page sites in Anticode

Anticode's design engine can add up to eight separate pages to a site: Work, Shop, Services, About, Pricing, FAQ, Book and Contact, in that navigation order. Each lives at its own address (services/, about/) and opens with its section, while the home page keeps the hero and any section no page has taken. Everyday words map to them, so "a treatments page" or "a menu page" becomes Services, and "our story" becomes About.

If you ask for "a multi-page site" without naming pages, you get a set chosen for the kind of site. A store gets Shop, About, Contact and FAQ; a landing page gets Services, About, Contact and Pricing. Asking for Book or Contact brings the booking calendar or contact form that page needs. Every page is held to the same design system, so type, colour and radius match across them by construction.

Add, remove and check pages later

  • Add: "Add an FAQ page and a pricing page." Check the navigation afterwards to see both in place.
  • Remove: "Remove the about page." Its sections go back onto the home page rather than disappearing.
  • Collapse: "Make it one page again" puts every section back on a single page.
  • Check: the release checklist runs every publish check without publishing, and the Map tab draws the site's sections, forms and connectors so you can confirm nothing broke after a change.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Thin pages. A Pricing page with two lines is better as a section. Make each page earn its place.
  • Navigation labels that are clever rather than clear. "Our craft" makes people guess; "Services" doesn't.
  • The same text copied on several pages. Summarise on the home page and give the detail once, on its own page.
  • Forgetting the phone. Check the navigation works at phone width on every page, not only on the home page.

Questions people ask

Why did the AI build only one page?

Usually because the request didn't ask for more. Name the pages you want, or ask in a sentence afterwards to add them.

Can I add a page to my AI website later?

Yes. In Anticode, ask for it in a sentence, such as "add a contact page". Its section moves from the home page onto the new page.

What pages should a small business site have?

Often a home page plus Services, About and Contact, with Book, Pricing or FAQ where they help. Start with fewer and add when you have content for them.
