Anticode Open builder

Redesign your website with AI, starting from the site you already have

Paste your current site's address into the request and Anticode reads it once, summarises it into the brief and rebuilds the site in one of seven design systems. It doesn't import the old code or a WordPress database, so treat the result as a new site: check every fact, price and page against the old one, and plan for old addresses before you move your domain.

Decide what the redesign is for

A website makeover goes wrong when it's only about looks. Before starting, write down the two or three things the old site fails at. Common ones: visitors can't find prices, the contact form is buried, it's unreadable on a phone, the services listed are out of date, or the design no longer matches the business. Those become the brief. A redesign that keeps every old page and section in a new font usually keeps the old problems too.

Start a build with something like "redesign our joinery site at example.com: keep the services and gallery, make prices and the quote form easy to find, and make it calmer". The Architect reads the linked page once and summarises it into the brief, then replies, asks up to three questions where the answer changes the build, and shows a short plan with the name, kind, sections, look and features. Read that plan carefully: it's your chance to drop a page nobody visits or add one the old site lacked.

The rebuilt site uses one of seven design systems: Editorial, Technical, Luxury, Playful, Brutalist, Organic or Swiss, each with its own font family, an action colour and consistent corner radius. Changing the design system is a bigger change than recolouring the old layout, which is the point of a redesign rather than a refresh.

What doesn't carry across

Reading a page is not the same as importing a site. A summary can miss things, and the old site's code, plugins and database don't come with it.

Check these against the old site yourself
ItemWhy it needs checking
Prices, hours, addresses, phone numbersA summary can drop or round details; one wrong number costs enquiries
Pages deep in the old siteOnly the linked page is read; paste key content from other pages into your request
Blog posts and newsThere's no WordPress import; move the posts worth keeping into a CMS collection
PhotosUpload the originals to the build so they're yours and at full quality
FormsRebuild them; the contact form asks for name, email and message, and other fields need a custom form
Embedded maps, videos and booking widgetsPublished pages can't embed them; link out instead
Legal pagesThe new site gets a Privacy Policy and Terms written from what it does; compare them with your current ones

Keeping search traffic when you switch

Most search damage from a redesign comes from changed addresses. If the old site had /our-services.html and the new one has /services, every link and search result pointing at the old address breaks. List the old site's most visited pages before you start, keep their paths where you can, and read the 301 redirects guide for what to do with the rest. Keep page titles and the main headings close to the old ones where they were working.

When you're ready, connect your own domain on a paid plan. Verification is by CNAME or TXT record and the certificate is issued automatically. The moving a domain to a new website walkthrough covers the order of steps, so the old site stays up until the new one is checked.

Reviewing before it goes live

  • Share a client review link if the site is for a client or a business partner. It needs no account; comments attach to a section, and the link expires after 14 days by default.
  • Change things in place. Edit text in the visual editor, move sections, or ask for a change in a sentence.
  • Compare versions. Saves are kept in version history, so you can try a bolder direction and restore the earlier one.
  • Run the release checklist, which runs every publish check without publishing.

Limits of a redesign here

  • No import of code, themes or databases from WordPress, Wix, Squarespace or Figma.
  • One link read once. Changes to the old site after that aren't picked up.
  • No shopping cart or inventory. A shop redesign keeps sales on payment links from your own provider, or stays on its e-commerce platform.
  • No member areas. If the old site had logins, they don't carry over to a published design-engine site.
  • English only. A multilingual site can't be redesigned into another multilingual site here.

Questions people ask

Will the redesign copy my old text word for word?

Not reliably. It works from a summary. Paste any text that must stay exact, such as legal wording or a long service description, into your request or edit it in afterwards.

Can I keep my old site online while I work on the new one?

Yes. Build and preview the new one first, publish it to an anticode.dev address to check it, and move your domain last.

How long does an AI website redesign take?

The build itself is quick. The checking takes longer: allow time to compare facts, rebuild forms and gather photos before switching the domain.
