Build a bingo card generator: unique printable cards from your words, plus a caller screen
A bingo card generator has two jobs: make cards that are all different, and make the game easy to run on the night. Anticode can build one app that does both. Type your words or pick a number format, print as many unique cards as you need, then use the caller screen on a laptop or projector to draw items without repeats and check a winner's card by its number.
Pick the format
| Format | Card | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| 75-ball | Five by five grid under B-I-N-G-O, free centre square; each column draws from its own range of fifteen numbers | Classic number bingo, American style |
| 90-ball | Three rows of nine columns, five numbers per row; wins on one line, two lines and a full house | Traditional UK and Australian bingo |
| Word or picture bingo | Three by three, four by four or five by five, filled from your own list | Classrooms, baby showers, team meetings, language lessons |
| Event bingo | Squares are things that might happen ("someone mentions the weather") | Watch parties, conferences, long car journeys |
For word bingo, your list needs comfortably more items than squares on a card, or every card looks the same. Twenty-four squares from a list of 30 words gives cards that overlap heavily; a list of 50 or more gives real variety and games that last longer.
Making the cards
- Unique cards, checked. The generator should check each new card against the others and reject duplicates, not just shuffle and hope.
- A card number printed in the corner of each card, so the caller can check a claimed win from the number alone.
- A seed for the batch, so you can regenerate exactly the same set of cards later if a copy is lost.
- Print layout. Two or four cards to an A4 or Letter page, with cut lines and enough margin for home printers. The app opens the browser's print dialog, where you can also save as PDF.
- Your style. A title, colours and a font that suit the event, and a free square with your own wording.
The caller screen
On the night, the caller screen turns any laptop into a bingo machine. A large draw button shows the next item big enough to read across a room, a board shows everything drawn so far, and a history lists the order. Synthesised sound can announce each draw with a chime. Because the draw is random without replacement, nothing repeats.
The most useful feature is the win checker: type the card number someone calls out and the app shows that card with drawn squares marked, and says whether it has a line, two lines or a full house. It works because the cards were generated from a seed the app remembers, so there's no disputing a win.
Describe it to Anticode
"A bingo card generator and caller for an office party. Word bingo, five by five with a free centre square reading 'Free coffee'. I paste a list of words, one per line. Generate any number of unique numbered cards from a seed and print them four to an A4 page with cut lines. A caller screen for a projector: big draw button, current word in huge type, board of drawn words, chime on each draw, undo last draw. A win checker by card number for one line, two lines and a full card. Remember my lists and the current game in this browser."
Run a short practice game before the event with a few printed cards to check the win checker agrees with your eyes. If the app is on the same laptop at the venue, the saved game survives an accidental refresh.
Limits
- No online play. Players can't join from their own phones and have cards marked automatically, because the app has no network. Cards are on paper, or each player opens the published app and marks their own card by hand.
- No prizes or paid games. The app can't take money. If you're running bingo for cash prizes, check the gambling rules where you live first; in some places it can need a licence beyond small private or charity events.
- Images come from your own uploads. Picture bingo uses pictures drawn in code, emoji or photos you add to the build, not pictures fetched from the web.
For other party tools, a random name picker or a spin the wheel app can decide who goes first; for a classroom, pair bingo with a word search maker.
Questions people ask
Is every card from this bingo card generator different?
Yes, if you ask for duplicate checking. With a short word list, cards still overlap a lot, so use a longer list.
Can I print the cards as a PDF?
The app opens the browser's print dialog, where saving as PDF is one of the options in most browsers.
Can players use their phones instead of paper?
Each phone can open the published app and show a card, but the caller's draws don't reach the phones, so players mark squares themselves.
